Joanne Elizabeth Midgett, of Rodanthe, died July 11, 2020.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late William Gerard Moher and Emily Esther Arbeiter. She joined the U.S. Navy and served her country proudly. After the Navy, Joanne worked as an IBM Operator before moving east.

She was a member of Fair Haven UMC and Clark’s Bethel, a Girl Scout leader and head of the Theta Rho’s and past president of the International Association of Rebekahs.

She is survived by husband Steve Midgett; daughters Robin Williams (Scott) of Kitty Hawk; Sheriann Sarsfield (Jim) of Grandy; Angel Midgett of Waves; son Steve Midgett Jr (Diane) of Rodanthe; granddaughters Hillary Midgett, Jillian Reese (Richard), Brittany Midgett, Emily Volman (Tanner); grandsons Triston Williams, James Sarsfield, Tanner Williams; a great-granddaughter; brothers Michael G. Moher (Deborah) and Ronald Butler; sisters Sue Conard (Tony) and Barbara Arban (Mike), as well as many friends, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
