W. Chris Aydlett Sr., 82, of Grandy, died August 4, 2020 in Elizabeth City. He was born in Elizabeth City on September 4, 1937 to the late Francis and Lorena Olds Aydlett. Chris served in the United States Coast Guard and retired after 20 years, then went to work for Currituck County School System as an electrician and retired after a 24-year second career. Chris was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for his lifetime.

Chris is survived by wife Alline Twiford Aydlett; children Rev. W. Chris Aydlett Jr. and wife Angie, Janice Aydlett Farr and husband Mike, Jimmy O. Aydlett and wife Jennifer, and Reneé Aydlett Liverman and husband Wes; grandchildren Rachel Cessna, Benjamin Aydlett, Christopher Farr, Katherine Aydlett, Maggie Aydlett, Matthew Aydlett, Jacob Bridgewater, Caitlin McPherson, Kelsey Liverman, Zane Liverman, Ivy Liverman; three great-grandchildren; sisters Mildred Mercer, Carolyn Simpson, Jean Tarkington, Catherine Aydlett; brother Billy Aydlett; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private ceremony will be held honoring Chris’ life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made in Chris’ name to the Lower Currituck Food Pantry in Grandy, where he proudly served for many years.
