Shirley Irene Ross Cobb

Shirley Irene Ross Cobb, 95, of Elizabeth City, died August 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born September 11, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harvey James Ross Sr. and Lois Gaumer Hay and was the widow of Thomas Braxton Cobb. She was a retired secretary for the Elizabeth City News Company and a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church. She was the granddaughter of noted Ohio editor and publisher Charles E. Gaumer.

She is survived by son James Landis Cobb (Angela) of Elizabeth City; stepson Kenneth Wayne Cobb of Elizabeth City; grandchildren Terrie Cobb Wilson, Tiffany Cobb Vaughan (Antonio), Darren Wayne Cobb, Stacy Cobb Lily (Forrest), Carey Russell Stancil, and Kelley Reed Stancil; and two great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by brothers Charles E. Ross and Sgt. H. James Ross Jr. WWII MIA; and stepson Thomas B. Cobb Jr.
