Carl Edward Clever Jr., 53, of Wanchese, died September 11, 2020. Born in Germany on November 17, 1966, he was the son of Bonita Lee Perry Clever and the late Carl E. Clever Sr.

A commercial fisherman, Carl was known as “Mr. Fix-It.”

Carl is survived by wife Melissa McDowell Clever; daughters Molly Staab (Elisabeth), Ashleigh Cahoon, Annie Clever and Keyaira Clever; sons Tavis Cahoon and Calvin Clever; grandchildren Eldon Cahoon and Zayden McDowell; siblings Tuesday Clever, Tracy Whedbee (Junior) and Travis Clever-Nadeau (Trent); stepsister Gina Benza; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother Troy Clever.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on September 20, 2020 at Ramp 55 in Hatteras. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends and relatives for a reception at the Hatteras Civic Center.
