Island Farm holding pumpkin patch event every Saturday in October

Every Saturday during the month of October, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Island Farm is holding special fall family fun events on Roanoke Island.

Participants can pick a favorite pumpkin, journey through the new straw maze, make a hand-dipped candle or corn husk doll, learn about and participate in nature weaving, play pumpkin-tac-toe, corncob lob and more. Island Farm’s apple press will be turning, and the fire crackling; fresh popcorn (cooked over the fire) will be available for sampling and a custom tractor photo booth will be available.

“A variety of COVID-19 precautions will be in place to keep visitors and staff safe,” stated a press release from Island Farm. “This is an outdoor event, although masks are required where social distancing cannot be maintained. Hand sanitizer will be available for guests.”

Admission is $8 plus the cost of pumpkins. Children under five are admitted for free. This event will take place every Saturday in October, weather permitting. Dates for Island Farm’s 2020 Pumpkin Patch are October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.

Island Farm is a living history site and working farm located on Roanoke Island, just north of Manteo.
