Southern Shores, NC – Betty Jane Lengyel Barclay, resident of Southern Shores, NC passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on November 3, 2020. Betty was 82 years old.

Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ream F. Barclay; her sons, Ream C. Barclay and Michael A. Barclay; her daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Barclay; two grandchildren, Michael A. Barclay II and Morgan A. Barclay; and her two siblings- brother Jack Lengyel and sister Goldie Ross. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Nick Lengyel; mother, Mary Lengyel; sister, Mary Becker; and granddaughter, Taylor A. Barclay.

Betty was the very best wife and mother. She loved her family very much. She loved reading and being around books. Her career as a librarian was her passion. Betty enjoyed knitting, word-find puzzles, and drawing. She loved her cats and enjoyed spending time with them.  Betty was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to the Outer Banks in 1984. She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Shores, NC.

Due to the Coronavirus a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dare Home Health and Hospice (109 Exeter St. P.O. Box 669 Manteo, NC 27954)
