Greensboro, NC – Wayne Waverly Parker, 86, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Kitty Hawk, NC, died Friday, November 6, 2020.

A native of Kitty Hawk, Wayne was born on November 29, 1933, to the late Aletha Bell Perry Parker and Ronald Parker.

Serving his country honorably, he retired from the United States Coast Guard as a Master Chief. His second retirement would follow a long career at Maritrans.

Wayne was active in his community and a member of the Masons, Shriners, and Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Best Parker; and three brothers, Larry, Claude, and Ronald Parker Jr.

Wayne is survived by two daughters, Julie Briggs (Robin) of Kitty Hawk and Stacey Mooreland (Timothy) of Greensboro; three sons, Wendel Parker of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert Parker (Monica) of Southern Shores and Roger Parker (Melissa) of Manteo; twelve grandchildren, Timothy Moreland, Parker Moreland, Megan Parker, Emily Roberson, Shannon Parker, Kendra Briggs, Anissa Musick, Taylor Parker, Chris Parker, Kathryn Wescott, Robin Briggs II, and Ashley Broggi; six great-grandchildren, Robin Briggs III, Brooke Moore, Patrick Moore, Brittany Ingrao, Tyler Musick, and Everly Roberson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Luca and Leo Ingrao.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk with Rev. Eugene McLawhorn officiating.
