Currituck County Schools teacher attends NCCAT workshop
Brian M. Markwood, a language arts teacher at the Moyock Middle School, was recently selected for and attended the week-long workshop “The Write to Read” held on Ocracoke Island and sponsored by the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.
The seminar, taught by Dr. Ernest Johnson, discussed ways to implement better writing into the ELA (English Language Arts) classroom. The week also included an informative walking tour of Ocracoke Island. Eight teachers from all across the state participated in this workshop.
Markwood received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Penn State University and a masters degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife Becky (Bush) reside in Moyock. He is the son of Mrs. “E.J.” Markwood of Jarvisburg and the late Larry Markwood.
