Village Realty raises $24,740.90 for Outer Banks Woman’s Club Angel Gift Fund

Now in its 33rd year, the Angel Gift Fund, a partnership between The Outer Banks Woman’s Club and Dare County Department of Health and Human Resources, aims to assist families and children in having their needs met and wishes fulfilled during this holiday season. Since 2010, Village Realty has matched every dollar that its employees raise each year, donating the sum to this community charity.

On December 3, Village Realty Vice President Dorie Fuller presented the company’s 2020 record-breaking donation and followed up with an email to Village Realty employees, stating “I am so proud of this group of amazing employees we have working for Village Realty. You really came together to pull off one of the biggest fundraisers we have ever done. The creativity was beyond imaginable for doing this during a pandemic. Our employees raised a total of $12,370.45 with the company match, it brings the total to $24,740.90. We have never raised this much for this cause ever. Because of each and every one of you a child’s Christmas will be little brighter this year. Thank you so, so much!”

Each department decided on their own creative method of raising money for the Angel Gift Fund. Individual fundraising efforts included: raffles for custom OBX t-shirt blankets, gift basket, baked goods and a fishing charter conducted by the rental and/or rental and accounting departments, while the property services department held a raffle for deep cleaning of homeowners’ rental homes and a regular cleaning of employees’ homes.

The marketing and property services departments in the past have hosted a Breakfast with Santa event, but given the pandemic restrictions, marketing had to scramble and came up with a winner: a $1,000 rental discount raffle offered to previous guests.

The accounting and real estate sales departments contributed by holding a soup and grilled cheese takeout bar.

The fundraisers more than tripled what was raised in its first year in 2010.
