Police: Pregnant woman, unborn child killed in domestic shooting in North Carolina

A pregnant woman was fatally shot during a domestic shooting in North Carolina and the man suspected of killing her died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

Officers responding to the scene of the shooting Sunday night in Fayetteville found the victim, Sarah Lewis, 34, with multiple gunshot wounds, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a statement. Lewis was brought to a hospital, where she died. Police said the unborn baby also died due to injuries sustained during the shooting.

The suspect, Keith Lewis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not provide information on the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

There was another juvenile at the home during the shooting but the child was not injured, officials said. That child has been placed with other family members.
