Retiring fire chief recognized for service

Retiring Roanoke Island Fire Chief Talmadge Jones was recognized and honored at the Manteo Board of Commissioners meeting held on December 16.
Jones served as chief from 1980-81 and again from 2015-20 and received the Chief’s Award in 2013 along with the President’s Award in both 2009 and 2012.
The board expressed sincere gratitude to Jones for his unconditional commitment to serving the community.
