Gary Wayne Owens Jr. (Shadow), of Hatteras, died at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. on March 12, 2021. He was the son of the late Robert Edward Owens Sr. and Charlotte Frances Gallagher. He was preceded in death by sister Joyce Ellen Belgard. He is survived by wife Dianne Owens, step-daughter Samantha Poulin and granddaughter Ekaterina Penosky; daughter April Mae Lakeman and grandchildren Tess Parker; Anne Parker; and Lilly Parker; sisters Marie Howser; Audrey Tomblin; Rebecca Owens; Patricia Clisham; Sharon Monaco; Michele (Shelly) Francfort; and brothers Robert Owens Jr. and David Martin III; nieces, nephews and aunt Lois Roddy.

Gary was born on June 25, 1955 in West Palm Beach, Fla. He served in the Marine Corps.
