Hyde’s youth baseball, softball league seeks shoe donations

The Hyde County Youth Baseball/Softball League is running a shoe drive fundraiser and the group is seeking help from the community. They will be collecting new and gently worn shoes through May 1, 2021. Drop off locations will be Hyde County Courthouse, Martelle’s Restaurant, Hyde County State Employees Credit Union and Mattamuskeet Elementary School.

By partnering up with Angel Bins, Hyde County Youth Baseball/Softball League will get paid for what they collect and plan to use the funds towards their much needed future sports complex.

Shoes can be all sizes, but must be pairs and still wearable. No heels, fuzzy slippers or metal cleats.

“After Angel Bins collects the shoes, they are sorted and cleaned, then sent to micro-entrepreneurs in developing nations which allows people to create both businesses and jobs for people in local communities,” stated the fundraising announcement. “Their income supports their families, and the inventory shoes the communities.

“Make a difference in your community at home and overseas today. Donate your shoes to Hyde County Youth Baseball/Softball League,” the announcement continued.
