John M. Register, a resident of Kill Devil Hills, passed away on April 23, 2021 after a six-month battle with cancer.

John a native of Virginia, was born on March 29, 1968, to Marvin and Rheba Register, currently of Point Harbor, NC. John and a close friend opened their first business as seniors in high school. From there, he was always involved in different ventures until he settled on residential real estate.

For the past 20 years, John has been a Realtor/Broker principally with Village Realty in Nags Head. He also participated actively in the Outer Banks Board of Realtors, holding leadership positions.

John will be remembered by his fellow realtors, clients, and building contractors as a true professional, dedicated and loyal. It was a profession he loved and gave his all to insure there were no issues left unresolved.

Personally, while exhibiting a sense of adventure, John was a kind, generous and loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. When the end was near and word of his condition reached those who touched his life, a continuous stream of visitors recalled how John had influenced them and touched their lives. Even today, they are close – sharing in the joys and pains that occur in life, celebrating an event or mourning a loss.

To John, Liberty Christian Fellowship Church and the Outer Banks Men’s Bible Study were a central part of his being. In addition to his parents Marvin and Rheba, John is survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and countless close friends who were equally his brothers and sisters.

The future Outer Banks Hospital Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center will house the John Register CT Scanner Area. In lieu of flowers, the Register family is gratefully asking that anyone wishing to honor John’s memory do so with a donation toward this project by visiting the We Love You John Register Facebook page or by calling Jennifer Schwartzenberg directly at 252-449-5933.

The family will hold John’s “Celebration of Life” in the fall of 2021. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register at www.GallopFuneralServices.com. Gallop Funeral Services is assisting the family.
