Manns Harbor fire destroys home

On July 5, 2021, at 4:16 p.m., Manns Harbor Fire Department was dispatched to the 7100 block of U.S. 64/264 for a structure fire.

The department’s units arrived on scene to find a fully involved single family dwelling, reported MHFD in a Facebook post.

“The fire was taken to a second alarm before getting it under control with additional response from Roanoke Island Fire, Nags Head Fire, Stumpy Point Fire, Kill Devil Hills Fire, Colington Fire, Tyrrell County Fire, Colington Fire Rehab Unit, Dare EMS, Fire Marshal Office, and Dare County Sheriff’s Office,” stated the post.

The residents and pets of the home self-evacuated and were safe. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated as of July 6, 2021.
