Joseph Eugene Chory Jr.

Joseph Eugene Chory Jr., 91, died August 11, 2021 at home in Symons Creek.

He was born to Joseph Eugene Chory Sr. and Mary Davis Chory in Elizabeth City on April 29, 1930. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and later worked as an aircraft mechanic at the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City.

Survivors include wife Barbara Overman Chory, sons Joseph “Gene” Chory III (Cindy) and Ricky Chory (Sandra); daughters Christy Saunders (Jerrell) and Terri Baccus (Donald); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and brother Samuel Chory (Lucy).

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin son and daughter.

Services will be held at Twiford Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City on August 14 at 2 p.m. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/TwifordFuneralHome. Twiford Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City is serving the family. www.TwifordFH.com
