Artists are now eligible to apply for Artist Support Grants through a partnership between the North Carolina Arts Council, Pocosin Arts, Arts of the Pamlico, Dare County Arts Council and Martin County Arts Council.

The Artist Support Grant program was created by the North Carolina Arts Council as a way to assist individual artists during and following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Artist Support Grant is intended to support a broad range of disciplines, including visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, music composition, choreography and interdisciplinary arts.

Emerging or established artists are encouraged to apply for a grant for a range of professional and artistic development including the creation of work, improvement of business operations or expanding capacity to bring work to new audiences. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to spending a significant portion of their time on their work as artists.

The digital grant application link and a step-by-step presentation are available online at DareArts.org/asg.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Grants will range in awards from $500 to $1,000.

Artist Support Grants will be distributed to eligible applicants in the following counties: Beaufort, Dare, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington.

This is the second year that Artist Support Grants will be distributed to North Carolina creatives.

“The artist support grant enabled me to successfully move forward with the growth of my studio space,” said 2020 Artist Support Grant recipient Lara Parks. “A sink in a creative space is amazing and having plumbing installed isn’t a cheap job. Having my own space has allowed my artwork and my products to evolve.”

Applicants with specific questions can contact Sydney Steen, creative economies coordinator, N.C. Arts Council at sydney.steen@ncdcr.gov or 919-814-6524.
