Hyde Extension’s family and consumer agent will teach how to safely operate a pressure canner, allowing preservation of wild game in a shelf-stable manner.
“Experience is not necessary, and if you have pressure canned meat before, come on and join us also!” states the class announcement.
Hyde County residency is not required to participate, though the class will be held at the Hyde County Government Center. Registration is free.
The class will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Class size is limited to 12 participants. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/canning-wild-game-meat-class-tickets-191785103407
The “Wild Game Food Safety – From Field to Table (Virtual Recording)” is required to be “attended” and viewed before moving on to in-person processing classes. This video was taught and recorded in September 2020. After registered, you will be sent a YouTube link to this recording along with a short survey that covers the main points addressed. If you attended this class in 2020, you do not need to retake it.
