Ten trucks stacked up waiting to dump dirt at the south end of the Rodanthe bridge.
Grading, paving and stormwater drainage installation are underway to build the bridge approach, a connector and roundabout.
The bridge is expected to open to traffic in early 2022.
On Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, NCDOT workers were pushing sand into a berm at the vulnerable S-Turns, which a completed Rodanthe Bridge will avoid. Daytime lane closures are also underway as punch list items are finished on the new Oregon Inlet Bridge.
