Ocracoke School will be closed for students on Monday, November 8, stated an announcement sent to Ocracoke School students and families Sunday evening by Julio Morales, public information officer for Hyde County Schools.

“Current weather forecast are not predicting any drop in wind speeds near the ocean for the first half of the day tomorrow,” stated the Sunday announcement. “High tide on Ocracoke is around 9:30 am tomorrow morning which could bring in some additional flood tide similar to today’s there also.”

Due to the continuing weather concerns, Hyde County Schools administration announced that there will be no school for students Monday and an optional teacher workday for staff at Ocracoke School. Mattamuskeet Schools will have a regular school day.
