Preparing gardens for winter is equally as important as the preparation, planning and planting that takes place in the spring. Now that autumn has arrived and temperatures are starting to cool, it is the perfect time to get outside and prepare your garden beds for winter.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center is hosting a class on November 17 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to help participants learn the importance of cleaning and preparing beds and how to protect plants from the cold winter temperatures. The “Winterizing Your Garden” presentation is free. The class will include tips and tricks to protect containerized plants and a hands-on demonstration on how to properly wrap palm trees. Prior registration for this event is required at https://winterize_your_garden.eventbrite.com.

Masks are not required for indoor in-person classes but are encouraged for unvaccinated individuals. “Please be aware this could change in light of changing state or local Covid-19 mandates,” stated the class announcement.
