Mattamuskeet School first graders are learning all about the gift of giving.

Students of Heather Whitfield and Jean Credle and teacher’s assistant Megan Gibbs recently participated in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child program, learning about giving and global awareness.

Students will be able to track where the boxes are going after they are mailed.

“This is the first year that we have participated. We decided to start with two boxes, one for each class, the students were so excited,” said Whitfield. “Over the following week our 19 students brought in so many items for our boxes, we ended up filling three boy boxes and two girl boxes.

“As teachers we were so proud of our students and their willingness to give to others.”

First grade students are Kristian Barrow, Branson Berry, Luke Bliss, Lillian Clark, Izzy Cutrell, Jordyn Johnson, Reauna Peterson, Justin Adams, Armani Simmons, Colby Brinn, Hayden Connor, Tucker Lewis, Danielle Landa, Kora Mizelle, Liam Whitfield, Aubree Williams, Alexis Pittman, Ava Gibbs and Brianna Gibbs.
