The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office has reported that on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, members of the CCSO Criminal Investigation Division and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a search warrant in the Eagle Creek subdivision.

Information released by CCSO stated that subsequent to the search warrant being conducted, “Raffaele Joseph Hanauer (36) was charged with 10 counts of Second Degree Child Exploitation of a Minor (NCGS 14-190.17).”

Bond was set at $200k and Hanauer is currently being housed at the CCSO Detention Center.

“The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office has no reason to believe that anyone related to the suspect had any knowledge of the activities taking place,” stated CCSO.
