The Dare League of Women Voters will welcome George Bonner, director of the NC Renewable Ocean Energy Program at the Coastal Studies Institute, on Saturday, January 22 at 3 p.m. for a presentation on alternative energy. This Zoom presentation is free and open to the public.

Bonner served 30 years in command positions in the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) before retiring to the Outer Banks. He is a North Carolina registered professional engineer and a certified floodplain manager. His current efforts involve enhancing infrastructure resilience and sustainability while adapting to climate change.

Bonner will discuss the different routes Dare County and the northeast region can take to become sustainable energy producers.
