Coastal Hospitality Associates, LLC (“Coastal Hospitality”) has announced the purchase of the 98-room Baymont by Wyndham Kitty Hawk in Kitty Hawk. The transaction finalized on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Coastal Hospitality, a Virginia Beach, Va.-based hotel management and development company, will also assume daily management of the hotel, with immediate plans for a light guestroom refreshment over the next few months in time for the busy spring and summer tourist season.

Beginning in the fouth quarter of 2022, the hotel will temporarily close to undergo an extensive multi-million dollar renovation and conversion to a Holiday Inn Express. Holiday Inn Express is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts with over 3000 properties worldwide. Reopening in early 2023, the Holiday Inn Express Kitty Hawk will feature a complimentary hot breakfast, outdoor pool, exercise room, free-to-guest laundry and complimentary golf cart transportation to and from the beach for guests who prefer not to walk.

“We are thrilled for this new addition to our portfolio of hotels, and we very much look forward to the repositioning of this hotel to the Holiday Inn Express brand. The Outer Banks market has shown tremendous growth over the past decade and has proven uniquely robust despite the current COVID-19 challenges” says Chris Brown, president of Coastal Hospitality.

Coastal Hospitality also owns and operates the 100-room Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Oceanfront, located 10 miles south in Nags Head. Originally the Nags Head Inn, the hotel was purchased by Coastal in late 2015 and underwent a similar conversion to the Holiday Inn Express brand.
