Cape Hatteras National Seashore awarded a $190,850.00 contract to Achuti, LLC, of Raleigh, to renovate the inside of the restroom facility near the Ocracoke Island Discovery Center.

The project is slated to begin Monday, February 28, 2022.

Two restrooms located behind the renovated facility will be available to the public during the project.

According to a CHNS press release, some of the new items to be installed in the restroom facility include:

• Toilets in each restroom and urinal in men’s restroom
• Double sinks and faucets
• Hand dryers
• Doors and partitions
• Mirrors
• Insulation in exterior walls
• Light fixtures and electrical wiring
• Plumbing piping

The contractor’s schedule indicates that the project will be completed by the beginning of May, stated CHNS.
