A series of races in and around Elizabeth City will impact drivers Thursday through Saturday.

The Elizabeth City Coast Guard Marathon will hold a 5k, a half-marathon and a full marathon March 4 and 5. For athletes to compete safely, there will be some temporary road and/or lane closures beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.

While most of the closures will be “rolling” closures that move with the participants, some roads will be closed for the entirety of the event, stated NCDOT. Among the closures are:

– North Road Street will be closed Friday afternoon.

– The outside lane of Weeksville Road will be closed for most of Saturday morning.

– A portion of Main Street and all of Water Street will be closed 7:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday.
