In Currituck County, two Republican primaries are set for the Board of Commissioner seats.
In District 3, incumbent Mike Payment, of Grandy, is challenged by Kim Moore from Moyock.
In District 5, incumbent Owen Etheridge, of Moyock, is challenged by Jim Hutson and Leigh Reagan-Smith, both from Moyock.
One at-large seat is up for election. Republican incumbent Kevin E. McCord, of Moyock, has filed to retain his seat. Democrat Claywood Wilson Jr., of Moyock, has also filed for the at-large seat. That contest is headed for the general election in November.
The non-partisan Currituck County Board of Education election will be held in the November general election.
Voters will choose among four candidates for the at-large seat. Running for that office are incumbent William (Bill) Dobney, of Grandy; Alice Newbern, of Harbinger; Jason E. Banks, of Coinjock and Will Crodick, of Knotts Island.
The Crawford Township seat is currently held by Janet Rose, of Moyock, who is running for another term. She is opposed by Paul Beaumont, of Shawboro.
The Poplar Branch Township has two contestants: Paul O’Neal, of Coinjock, and Dana Paker, of Aydlett.
