The Roanoke Island Garden Club recently approved grants to several businesses as part of the club’s philanthropic and educational function.
A grant to the Island Farm, presented by Donna Presgrave, chair of the club’s Annual Contributions Committee, to Michelle Clower, site manager, was made to assist the farm with plantings in the kitchen garden.
The farm’s cat, Camelia, curious as to what was happening, joined Presgrave and Clower in the kitchen garden.
Grants were also made to the Elizabethan Gardens, Roanoke Island Food Pantry, Community Garden and Food for Thought.
