Jessica Parra, who serves as a senior customer service representative for the Dare County Water Department, has been named Dare County’s Employee of the Month for March 2022.
Parra was presented the award by Dare County Water Department utilities director Pat Irwin at the Dare County Board of Commissioners meeting held Monday, March 7, 2022.
Parra, who has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resources, was hired in May 2021 as a customer service representative for the Dare County Water Department, working in the Kill Devil Hills office. She was promoted to her current position of senior customer service representative in December 2021.
“She is bilingual and able to speak, read and write in Spanish, and she provides valuable assistance to our Spanish language customers,” said Irwin. “Jessica is pleasant and considerate when communicating with our customers. She has a can-do attitude in her approach to her position. She takes on new responsibilities and never turns down a challenge.”
Irwin also noted that, in addition to her primary responsibilities as a senior customer service representative, Parra has also recently accepted the additional duty of managing the Dare County Water Department’s debt setoff program.
According to a nomination form submitted by one of Parra’s colleagues, “Jessica has been an outstanding employee since she started last May. Every day, she not only fulfills her job duties, but she helps to brainstorm and complete additional projects that are moving the billing office in a positive direction. As a result of her excellent customer service skills, she was recently chosen to fill our senior customer service position. She is friendly, patient and helpful.”
