Gov. Roy Cooper has appointed George G. Bonner of Manteo to the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission. The appointment was announced April 6, 2022.

Bonner was appointed as a retired member of the United States Coast Guard. He is the director of renewable ocean energy for the University of North Carolina System. He dedicated over 30 years to the United States Coast Guard, where he led several efforts to support sustainable coastal infrastructure.
