Jan Collins gave a presentation about the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition at a recent meeting of the Women’s Association of the Duck Woods Country Club (WADWCC). The Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition offers caregiver support groups, educational programs and the recently-added Caregivers’ Day Out Program that is free to all participants, held every Monday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dare Country Rec Center.

After the presentation, the WADWCC membership voted unanimously to add Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition as an organization that they support. The group held their First Love to Remember tennis tournament last fall, raising over $40,000.

The Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit which was established in 2014 to address the need to assist caregivers of those with memory loss, has trained over 30 dementia-friendly restaurants and businesses.
