James Sheldon Sawyer, 80, of Camden, died May 21, 2022 at Peak Resources in Nags Head. He was born in Elizabeth City on November 30, 1941 to the late Millard Kresler Sawyer and Blanche Hales Sawyer.

Survivors include wife Nancy Tarkenton Sawyer, sons Mike Sawyer (Jean), Chris Sawyer (Blair) and Tim Sawyer (Amanda); brother M.K. Sawyer (Dorcas); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister Eva Cartwright and her husband Butch.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 27 at Corinth Baptist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 1035 US-17 South, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twiford Funeral Home is serving the family.  www.TwifordFH.com
