One of the top selling hardback titles in the south this summer is The Lost Book of Eleanor Dare and author Kimberly Brock is making a stop this week in Manteo.
Downtown Books will be hosting Brock at NouVines Wine Bar on Tuesday, June 7 at 11 a.m. She will be talking about her novel, which tells the story of Alice, a war widow who travels back to her homeplace – a crumbling mansion called Evertell near Savannah – with her daughter Penn to try and find closure on her past and funds for Penn’s education.
Alice’s mother claimed to be a descendent of Eleanor Dare and when Alice and Penn find her missing “commonplace” book, the story of Eleanor – her travels to the New World, her disappearance and the legend of the Dare Stones – becomes a part of the tale.
Tickets include a signed copy of The Lost Book of Eleanor Dare and a complimentary champagne toast to the author and can be purchased by calling 252-473-1056 or visiting duckscottage.com. Downtown Books is located in downtown Manteo.
