Coquetta Laverna C. Brooks, who served more than 10 years as chair and co-chair of the Manteo precinct of the Dare County Democratic Party, was honored by her colleagues at recent precint meeting for her distinguished service.

Brooks was recognized in a resolution adopted unanimously by precinct members for her “outstanding leadership and guidance to the Manteo Precinct.” The resolution notes that she has “faithfully and with honor, integrity and great distinction” fulfilled her many leadership responsibilities to her community, family and the Democratic Party.

The resolution further acknowledges that she has “faithfully served the needs of her community, family and political party and exemplifies the highest ideals of the Dare County Democratic Party.”

Arturo Lara, current precinct chair, congratulated Brooks on her long service and thanked her on behalf of the precinct “for her many years of service to the Precinct and to the cause of freedom, liberty and justice for all people.”
