Do you have a low area on your lawn that always seems wet? If so, a rain garden is the perfect solution!

Rain gardens are depressed areas in a landscape that capture runoff from a roof, driveway or street and allow it to slowly soak into the ground reducing the effects of harmful pollutants. Additionally, rain gardens attract pollinators and songbirds, while providing shelter for other wildlife.

Participants in an upcoming workshop will learn how to correctly construct a rain garden as well as pick appropriate perennials, grasses and trees that will not only add beauty but provide a cost-effective way to reduce runoff.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center will host this free workshop on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 1-2:30 pm. Register online at rain_gardens.eventbrite.com.

Those needing accommodations for persons with disabilities should contact Chris Blaha at 252-232-2261 or email ctblaha@ncsu.edu no later than 10 business days before class.
