Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day to maintain the blood supply.

The actual blood donation takes 10-12 minutes and the entire process from arrival to departure take about one hour. A single donation can save up to three lives.

A Red Cross blood drive will be held July 25 at Southern Shores Pitts Center. Appointments can be made at RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
