Winners reported for marlin contest, race at 2022 Day at the Docks

At the premier Concrete Marlin Contest at the Day at the Docks celebration, two-person teams compete against each other to hook and gaff a concrete cylinder that resembles the weight of a marlin.
The 2022 winners are:
Adults – 1. Ryan Oden and Tim Hagerich; 2. Johnny Fairbanks and John Cannon.
Under 14 years old – 1. Jesus Garcia and Anthony Gavetti; 2. Stella Powell and Audrey Meekins.
The Fishy 5k starts Day at the Docks in Hatteras village with an early morning run around the town. The race benefits the missions of the Hatteras United Methodist Church.
This year’s winning times for adult men are 1. David Kiser, 18:52 and 2. Jesse Austin, 21:23.
Adult women winners with times are 1. Angela Gray, 23:51 and 2. Katie DeBor, 27:53.
Youth boy winners with times are 1. Reid Gross, 20:40 and 2. Liam Van Druten, 21:05.
Youth girls had a three-way tie for first place with a time of 36.18. Winners are Ella Snead, Simmons Gross and Lily Cannon.
