UPDATE: Dare County Schools closed Monday due to wind, flood risk

UPDATE: Early Monday morning, Dare County Schools issued a statement that due to “a change in forecasted wind and flood risk, Dare County Schools will be closed for students today, Monday, October 3, 2022. Today will be an optional work day for staff.  Staff should check their DCS email for further instructions.  Thank you and stay safe.”

Dare County Schools issued notification midafternoon Sunday, October 2, 2022 that due to the risk of high winds and flooding, Dare County Schools will operate on an early dismissal schedule on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Release times for each school in the system can be found on the Dare County Schools website. All after school events including After School Enrichment are canceled.

“We will continue to communicate with local officials and the National Weather Service as the storm effects begin to move into the area,” stated the DCS notification. “If conditions warrant, we may need to make further changes to the schedule. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to ensure student and staff safety.”
