Mildred Moore Gurganus, 100, of Elizabeth City, died October 9, 2022 at home. Born in Martin County on September 4, 1922 to the late Samuel Joseph Moore and Mary Coltrain Moore, she was the widow of John Edward Gurganus.

Survivors include daughter Sharon G. Halstead C; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son John Stanley Gurganus; sisters Anita Italiano and Joyce Scarborough and brothers Ervin Moore, Clifton Moore, Frank Moore and Tom Moore.

Funeral service was held October 11 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with burial in New Hollywood Cemetery.
