The North Carolina Chapter of the United Fresh Produce Association promotes vegetable production in North Carolina through research and logistics of production. As the NC chapter of this association recently dissolved, its members decided to donate their remaining funds to help different programs. The Mattamuskeet School FFA Chapter was selected for a donation.

Dick Tunnell, Hyde County vegetable producer and member of the NC Chapter for the United Fresh Produce Association, visited Mattamuskeet School on Tuesday, November 15 to meet with Jennifer Cahoon, FFA Club advisor; Allison Etheridge, school principal; and FFA Club student officers and members in order to present the FFA Chapter at school with a donation of $5,000. Tunnel stated this donation was intended to support and promote the efforts made by the FFA Club at Mattamuskeet School.

Jennifer Cahoon said she was very surprised and appreciative for the donation. This donation will help boost local activities planned by the FFA Club as well as student member participation in state level events.
