Student possession of pocket knife reported at Moyock Middle School

Currituck County Schools has reported that on January 5, 2023, Moyock Middle School administration received information regarding a student potentially possessing a weapon on campus.

“The administration responded appropriately by immediately involving law enforcement and investigating the report, which led to the discovery and confiscation of a pocket knife,” stated the release. “Appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken.”

The press release also stated that district officials “would like to thank those who took the appropriate steps to contact school administrators of their concerns. Currituck County Schools and law enforcement take any form of a threat seriously, as the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We work diligently daily to provide safe learning environments and do not tolerate any factors risking such.
