All Dare County offices and facilities – including the Dare County C&D Landfill, Buxton Transfer Station and Manteo Recycle Yard – will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. These sites will reopen on Tuesday, January, 17, 2023.

Dare County Public Works, which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of the county as well as the Town of Kitty Hawk, has announced its revised collection schedule in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Residential trash collection for the week of Monday, January 16, 2023 through Friday, January 20, 2023 will take place as follows:

• Monday, January 16, 2023: Closed – No trash collection
• Tuesday, January 17, 2023: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras
• Wednesday, January 18, 2023: Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon
• Thursday, January 19, 2023: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras
• Friday, January 20, 2023: Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon

Commercial trash collection will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 and Friday, January 20, 2023.
