The Dare County Board of Education will meet in special session on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 at 3 p.m. at the Dare County Schools Administrative Office in Nags Head.
The purpose of the meeting is for the board to discuss the proposed policy for home-school student participation in Dare County Schools athletics.
A draft policy was presented at the Board’s Jan. 9, 2023 meeting. At that time, the policy was scheduled to be considered Feb. 13, 2023, precluding home-school student participation in spring sports.
If the policy is adopted Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, home-school students will have the requisite time to prepare documents and give notice of intent to participate in a sport.
The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed on the Dare County Schools website at daretolearn.org/board-of-education/board-meetings.
For additional information, contact Georgia Sellers, executive assistant to the board, at 252-480-8888, extension 1901.
