Redskins take two losses in conference play

The Manteo High School varsity boys basketball team finished the week of January 27, 2023 with two conference losses. The team is currently 6-4 in the conference.

The Redskins lost their first game January 24 competing against “cross-town” rivals First Flight 84-77.

Kaleb Spencer scored 25 points and 14 rebounds. Kenyon Conti score 20 points and five assists. Will Waughtel had 18 points and Amyas Kenyon had 14. The were the only Redskins to score points.

Manteo played the Currituck Knights on January 27. The score was 24-42 at half time, with the Redskins down 18 points. In the second half, Manteo cut the lead to four with 3 minutes and 46 seconds in the fourth quarter, 52 Manteo to 56 Currituck. The final score was 58-71.

Kenyon Conti and Amyas Kenyon scored double figures: 16 and 10, respectively.

The Manteo Redskins varsity overall record is now 15-5 with four conference games remaining.

They will play at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 against the Pasquotank Panthers. Tshombe Selby, who works at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, will sing the National Anthem ahead of the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
