Dare County school board meets Monday

Dare County Board of Education meets Monday, Feb. 13, 2023 for its regular meeting starting at 5 p.m. in the Dare County Administration Building, located at 954 Marshall C. Collins Dr. in Manteo.

At 4:30 p.m., the board will open a special session to consult with the board’s attorney, consider confidential personnel and student matters and to announce a settlement agreement.

At the regular meeting, five reports will be delivered. Topics of the reports are a donation to Cape Hatteras Secondary School Athletic Program; a College of The Albemarle presentation; an overview of the JROTC program; a presentation about the system’s Career and Technical Education program; and an update on Secondary School Program of Studies.

The board will have a second reading on proposed policy or regulation changes. Additionally, another 10 policy and regulation changes are up for first reading.

The board will consider a memorandum of understanding between the County of Dare, Dare County Board of Education, and Outer Banks Babe Ruth Baseball for Use of Kitty Hawk Elementary School Baseball Fields.

And the board will consider granting approval for the use of Manteo High School baseball field to the Outer Banks Daredevils for collegiate baseball games this summer.
