The varsity and middle school baseball teams at Cape Hatteras Secondary School fed about 125 community members Monday night, Feb. 27, 2023 at the first Cape Hatteras Secondary Baseball Community Dinner.
It was a great night of food, fun and fellowship, with many attendees leaving with full bellies and prizes won from a free raffle.
The Cape Hatteras baseball program extended thanks to sponsors that contributed to the event, including Connor’s Supermarket, Food Lion, Frisco Rod & Gun and Sonny’s Restaurant, as well as Lighthouse Assembly of God for the use of the Family Life Center to host the event. Making the event possible was the hard work of the players, coaches, and especially the behind the scenes volunteers in the kitchen doing all of the cooking.
Plans are already in the works for the next Cape Hatteras Secondary Baseball Community Dinner.
The varsity Hurricanes open the season Saturday, March 4 at Rosewood High School. The home opener is Thursday, March 9 against Manteo. That game is followed by the varsity’s annual Sandlot Tournament on Saturday, March 11, where the teams vow to “Knock Cancer out of the Park.”
Middle school Hurricanes open the season Thursday, March 9 at First Flight and have a home opener Monday, March 13 against Manteo.
