Currituck County Schools nominates Julie West for NCCAT CTE Teacher of the Year

Currituck County Schools has announced that Julie West has been selected as the Currituck County Schools CTE (Career and Technical Education) Teacher of the Year.

West now also represents Currituck County Schools’ nomination for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) 2023 Career Technical Education Teacher of the Year program.

West, a 23-year veteran educator, teaches Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and project management at J.P. Knapp Early College High School. In addition to teaching, West is the advisor for the school’s national award-winning Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter and serves on the NC FBLA Executive Board.

Known for her digital expertise and innovation, West supports students in many ways, including connecting the classroom to the community. Her students are frequently involved in projects serving others, executing each from concept to implementation.

“Julie West is a dedicated professional who provides incredible opportunities for her students to learn, grow and excel. She creates a classroom environment where students are learning academic foundations which are then coupled with real-world, hands-on experiences,” said Jennifer Woods, CTE director for Currituck County Schools. “Through her hard work and dedication, students leave her classroom ready to handle the world!”
