The 34th Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at Dowdy Park in Nags Head.
This year’s Artrageous theme is Space To Create, offering children a fun, open-minded, outdoor space to let their creativity flow.
“We are really looking forward to this year’s Artrageous,” said Dare Arts program director Michelle Alexander. “We’ve got some cool, new art activities lined up that fit in with our theme as well as some of everyone’s Artrageous favorites. The whole Artrageous team loves seeing the joy that this event brings to all who attend!”
Artrageous is a free, family-friendly event that includes art activities, live music, dance performances, an artisan market and food vendors.
Organizations and businesses interested in hosting a kids art activity and artisans interested in selling their works at Artrageous can find the applications online at DareArts.org/artrageous. The application deadline is Thursday, April 6.
Young artists will be given the opportunity to participate in The Young Artist Village, a dedicated space for young artists (17 and under) to sell their handmade goods.
“We love Artrageous and are excited to be a part of it this year,” said young artist sisters Logan and Calla Simmons of Kill Devil Hills. “We’re going to be selling shower steamers. Making them is really fun and we’re glad we have a place to sell them.”
Fork ‘et Me Not, Island Snowball and Blurred Lines Bakery will be selling snacks and sweet treats onsite all day.
The Artrageous Kids Art Festival is Dare County’s longest-running kids art program. The Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund awards one scholarship to a senior at each high school in Dare County every year.
Businesses interested in sponsoring the 34th Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival should contact Dare Arts executive director Jessica Sands at DareArtsInfo@gmail.com.
