Dear readers,

In this issue you will see my delinquent status of $402.05 in taxes owed to the Town of Southern Shores. This is the unpaid amount I have elected not to pay to support the beach nourishment tax, for which I was opposed. I felt that a decision this important should have been made by referendum, not by five council members raising their hands to tax me more than what they would pay.

Now, does anyone know when this tax will end? At the Town of Southern Shores, they don’t know. At Dare County Tax Collections, they don’t know either. Lastly, does anyone think, logically, that even one family would decide vacationing in Southern Shores because of the absence of a beach nourishment project?
